How EJ’s Lures & Flies Got Started

Hey everyone, Ernie here. I wanted to take a moment to share the story of how EJ’s Lures & Flies came to life — because like most great things, it started out small, simple, and a whole lot of fun.

It all began when my wife, Sharon, and I started fishing more often with some friends here in central New Hampshire. I was trying to figure out the best lures to cast in the local rivers, and like most beginners, we found ourselves wandering the aisles at Walmart grabbing whatever looked cool — even if we didn’t really know what we were looking at.

One day, while Sharon and our friends were working on some crafts, I caught myself wondering how hard it would be to try making my own lures. That spark turned into something bigger when Sharon shared that she used to tie flies with her grandfather when she was little. That memory brought a whole new level of meaning to the idea.

Before we knew it, we were ordering supplies, experimenting with colors and materials, and creating lure after lure, fly after fly. We found ourselves completely hooked — line, sinker, and all.

At first, we shared our creations at local craft fairs and with friends. The feedback was incredible, and it didn’t take long before we realized we were ready to take things to the next level. And that’s how EJ’s Lures & Flies was born.

Today, we still put that same love, curiosity, and excitement into every single lure and fly we make. No two pieces are ever exactly the same — each one is handcrafted with care, creativity, and the joy that got us started in the first place.
